Herding Academy (RGA) Goals are to demonstrate and share how to profitably manage land, to protect, preserve and regenerate the natural environment - Increase Landscape Function and Biodiversity outcomes while sharing knowledge to next generation how to do this and set them up for a good start in life.

Inspired by some pioneers which are some of my mentors:

Graeme Hand (Hand for the Land is one of Australia’s leading holistic land management and training consultancies)

and university degree Ecological Agriculture coarse leader Kerry Cochrane (The Australian Institute of Ecological Agriculture [IEA])

and my loyal team of working stockdogs and of coarse my family and friends.

Following on great inspiring words Kerry introduced to me is a quote from John Ikerd.

Agriculture sustainability is a goal rather than a specific set of farming practises or methods.

Sustainability, as a goal, implies some basic principle and characteristics of sustainable systems.

A sustainable agriculture must be

ecologically sound, economically viable, and socially responsible -

-all are necessary and none sufficient.

Short run profitability is necessary, but not sufficient, to ensure long run sustainability.

In the sustainable paradigm, the environment and society are not seen as "constraints" to profitability, but are seen as essential prerequisites to long run economic viability.

The sustainable paradigm balances economic, environmental, and social concerns in moving toward systems which can sustain a desirable quality of human life on Earth indefinitely.

Our Stepping Stone Mission

Is like having your own personal Life Coach. Our goal is to educate and empower Professional Herders (stockpersons) and provide a whole of life stepping stone bridge for success, with the skills and knowledge to implement leading regenerative grazing practices of Landscape Function Planned Grazing contributing to biodiversity preservation and ecosystem restoration across Australia. You may choose to go on to other career paths but we hope these on farm experiences will ground you into your future chosen field
